Water, water, and more water

By just adding a few more cups of water daily, you a become more healthy. Water is necessary to stay hydrated and to help bodily functions to perform more effectively. It may be easier for some people to replace the other beverage that you have with lunch with a glass of water. Drinks like juice and soda contain large amounts of sugar which should be consumed in moderation. Sugar filled drinks have no nutritional value to the body and just add extra fat and calories. By no means necessary am I saying that all drinks containing sugar should be removed from the diet but there should be more consumption of water than the other drinks. Water is beneficial and has no negative associations which makes it healthy and necessary. Consuming  the daily amount will promote a more healthy life and consuming over the daily amount could have more benefits as well.

Many people do not drink water and they think that there is a substitute for it like vitamin and mineral waters. The truth is that there is no replacement for water! The sooner that people understand this fact, the better off they will be. There is no drink that can benefit the body as much as water can. In America there is a large amount of children who do not like to drink water. This is something that can be very detrimental for the growth of a child and for the overall health of children as they grow older into adults. Parents should be sure to explain to children the importance of water so that they will learn from a young age how important water really is to their health. Basically water is crucial and should be the first option instead of sodas and juices.

In America it is easy to see that there is a driving force that is pushing us to become unhealthy slobs. At many delivery and take-out restaurants a free soda is offered with a certain amount of food that is purchased. This is very interesting because it would seem that if people wanted us to be healthy as humans, they would offer us water. The main problem is that it is usually cheaper to purchase sodas and sugar filled drinks and give them out for free instead of the beverage that will not have any effects on our bodies. We have to make the decision as Americans that we will try to drink more water. The companies seem to always promote the less healthy options for beverages but it is not their fault if you accept and take the bait. It is just important to not forget about water as an option. Other drinks may taste better but adding water is just something that will help in the overall health of a person.

  1. You make a perfect point. The whole time I was reading your blog, I kept thinking about the posters on the NYC subway showing how much sugar and fat goes into all those drink. Many people normally write about how the food and its fat/calorie content is adding to the obesity increase in America, but not many people realize how the drinks affect our health too. Unfortunately, you're right, these fast food chains are encouraging these drinks over water such as the new machine they recently came out with 100+ drinks.

  2. I recently have given up diet soda. Okay, I cheat at the movies and on special occasions. I find that I prefer seltzer instead of regular water and I prefer filtered tap over bottled water. Why do you think many people drink anything but water when they eat out?

    1. People are tempted by the attention and advertisements that are available for the alcoholic beverages and for the sodas. There is always more emphasis put on these other drinks. Also remember that water is free. They will not usually promote water when you go out.
