Salads taste great and they are a great and healthy thing to eat. Salads can be altered and made to order which can give people the variety that they are used to. They offer the nutritional and health benefits that come along with vegetables.
There are two different types of salads. The unhealthy type of salad is one that has a very high fat salad dressing on it and it may include topics such as bacon or crispy chicken. The healthy type of salad includes one with either grilled chicken or tuna and a lower fat salad dressing.
There is one warning about salads. When choosing a tossed salad, the options are unlimited. Be careful to not add too many things to the salad. This may add extra fat to the salad and cancel out the whole point.

I completely agree with this post. Many people, and I include myself, since salad is known to be healthy, take advantage of this fact. When there is too much added to the salad, it can become even just as unhealthy as a burger from McDonald's, but sometimes this fact is avoided because "oh, salad is healthy". I definitely agree that salads can be yummy, a person just has to be careful of the toppings put on it. This post along with all your other ones, has a lot of useful information that many people do not know or consider.
ReplyDeleteThis is very true. Some people take it to the max and might as well have a big mac.
DeleteReading about salads has just made me hungry for it. I'm not a big person on salad but there is this one salad that I'm crazy about. the Caesar salad. What's crazy about that is that I will only eat the ones in Red Lobster. I've tried it in other places, restaurants, etc. but i don't think anyone could beat Red Lobster. Other than that I like how you're blogs are about nutritional pieces, not many people realize anymore how bad our diets have been getting. Keep it up! :)
ReplyDeleteIt took a long time before i could accept eating a salad and sticking to it, It was a love/hate relationship. It all depends on what you put into it and developing a taste for it i guess... Salads are definitely a great alternative if one plans on eating more healthier if we plan on living longer. One thing that many should know is that there truly are really good low-fat etc... dressings which can make the salads enjoyable. This is me speaking from experience.
ReplyDeleteI adore salads! I love that more places are popping up in the city with salad bars. People always need to make sure that what they add in is truly healthy instead of making an excuse that because its a salad, its automatically healthy.
ReplyDeleteThrowing in different veggies, beans, and the right dressing can add up to a wonderful meal. I actually went to the grocery store last week to purchase items for a salad because I was craving it so bad. If it wasn't so late, I would eat one now!
I love eating salads. They are just so delicious and healthy. There are definitely salads that are just as fattening as greasy foods from fast food restaurants. I usually eat the grilled chicken with peppers, corn, and cheese without the dressing. I hate dressing on my salads.
ReplyDeleteThis blog makes makes my stomach go gaga...I'd love me some salad now, baby leaves mix with walnuts...delicious! And actually, it's not only healthier but I'm quite convinced that all this fatty food destroys your skin, and that is why people that are uneducated about nutrition often don't look quite as good..eat healthy and you won't need all that makeup!
